I grew up in Cumberland, out in western Maryland, the kid everyone told their problems to on the school bus. I spent eleven years as a hospice and hospital social worker, sitting with families on the worst days of their lives, and that’s where I learned that most people don’t need fixing. They need someone steady in the room who will tell them the truth.

I opened this practice in 2019 so I could see people for as long as they need, not as long as a plan allows. I’m direct, I’ll laugh with you, and I’ll give you something to try between sessions if you want it. I lean on acceptance and commitment therapy and CBT for anxiety, and on plain, unhurried grief work.

Outside the office I row badly on the Severn on Saturday mornings and garden slowly.
